How did you get involved with Camp One Step?

I heard about Camp One Step from a friend.  (I waited until my own children were grown to pursue this).

How long have you been involved with our organization?

I have been honored and blessed to be involved in Camp One Step since the summer of 2009.

What volunteer roles have you held?

I have been a counselor in several In-Person Camps, such as Excel (2009) and Excursion (2019), and a co-leader in Excel (2010-2018) and in Water Sports (2022).  I have been a counselor in BTFC since its inception.  I have also been a counselor for many years in the Chicago Day Camp and Family Camp.
I am also so excited to say that I was able to be a counselor in every Digital Program since these were formed.  Such an amazing way for our camp families to stay Connected.

What keeps you coming back to Camp One Step?

I keep coming back for the positive energy, the people, the magic, the love and compassion, and the laughter and smiles.

What do you love the most about the program you lead?

This is my first year co-leading BTFC.  This is such a special and unique camp.  Here we are more than a community, we are family!  We share, commiserate, bond, and laugh.

What are some words of wisdom or advice that you would give campers?

Just come, try out a camp or a program, be YOU, and have fun.

What are some words of wisdom or advice that you would give new or interested volunteers?

You will get so much more than you give.  To quote others over the years, ‘These Camps and Programs are even more magical than Disney, and once you are here, you will never want to leave.’

What are some of your interests outside of camp?

Outside of camp, I thoroughly enjoy my time with my “other” family.  I have a husband, 2 married daughters, and 6 amazing grandchildren.  I also love to read, travel, be outside, fulfill my other volunteer positions, and to spend time with my friends.
