We consolidated our favorite support tools and resources to help our campers, families, and volunteers navigate these times.

Resources for Campers

  • Cosmic Kids Yoga is a series of yoga videos for children that includes bright, colorful characters with playful, fun instruction.
  • YoPlay Yoga offers a number of free mindfulness and meditation practices for children. In order to access the free resources, you will need to subscribe to the site.
  • A simple happiness worksheet for all ages to draw and write what makes you happy for the day.
  • Gratitude for teens – a quick read that talks about the benefits of being grateful and the importance of building gratitude habits.
  • A 7 Day Gratitude Journal for Teens. Take some time each day to journal the things that you are grateful for and at the end of the week, write down the best things about the week.
  • Teens Finding Hope offers a number of free worksheets for teenagers to use including a Mood Chart, Thought-Feeling-Behavior Log, The Best Things About You, My Exercise Plan and Journal Prompts. Worksheets are available in both English and Spanish.
  • Journal buddies provides free writing prompts for kindergarten through high school.
  • Coloring pages that are designed specifically for teens.
  • Coloring pages with positive sayings on them geared towards teens.

Yoga

  • Yoga with Adriene is a Youtube channel providing free yoga to over 6 million subscribers.
  • Yoga by Degrees offers a variety of hatha yoga classes to accomodate every level and interest.

Suggested Free Apps

All of the apps listed have free components to them, some due to COVID-19.  There is no purchase required unless you want to expand your app package. 

  • Calm: Experience lower stress, less anxiety, and more restful sleep with guided meditations, sleep stories, breathing programs, movement exercises, journals and relaxing music.  During COVID-19, Calm is offering some of their best selections free of charge.
  • Headspace, a popular meditation and mindfulness app, is offering free content to help manage stress and anxiety during COVID-19.  The free collection “Weathering The Storm,” includes meditations, sleep, and movement exercises to relieve stress and anxiety, and promote calmness during these challenging times.
  • Smiling mind promotes daily mindfulness and meditation practices.  Smiling Mind was developed by psychologists and educators to help bring balance to your life.
  • Thrive Inside with Smiling Mind helps you remain inspired, stay connected and foster good mental habits during the Coronavirus crisis.
  • Insight timer provides a large collection of daily meditations focusing on improving sleep, coping with anxiety, & managing stress.  They also offer a large selection of meditation exercises for kids.
  • I Am inspires positivity with daily affirmations and supportive statements.  You decide how often you would like to receive messages throughout the day and just when you need that positive reminder of your strengths or attributes, an affirmation such as “I believe in myself” arrives.  Free categories focus around self-care, health & wellbeing, and stress & anxiety.
  • Gthx Gratitude provides gratitude tools and motivating practices to bring you more joy, less stress and healthier relationships.
  • Breathe2Relax is an app to help slow your breath to calm your body. Adults and kids can use this.
  • Woebot is an app that gives you the opportunity to talk through and process some of your feelings of anxiety and depression. The woebot, a computer coach, uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) practices to walk you through calming exercises, and gives you someone to talk to. Woebot can also check in on you daily to see how you are doing and provide support. This is a great app to recommend for parents to help their children, and actually has been supported by research.  Best for ages 18+.

Kids love to color but did you know that many adults also enjoy this activity.  Coloring has many demonstrated benefits – it helps to clear the mind and provides a sense of calm, can reduce stress and anxiety, helps individuals to focus, encourages creativity, and provides an outlet to express individuality.  Check out these free downloadable coloring pages for adults and kids.

  • Breathe2Relax is an app to help slow your breath to calm your body. Adults and kids can use this. It can be found in the app store of your smart device.

Promoting Gratitude

  • Gratitude Scavenger Hunt for Kids encourages kids to be grateful.
  • Gratitude Scavenger Hunt encourages us to slow down and take time to journal what you are grateful for on this free downloadable worksheet.
  • Gratitude for teens – a quick read that talks about the benefits of being grateful and the importance of building gratitude habits.

Building Resilience

  • Promoting Resilience in Your Child – Children’s Mental Health Matters provides a calendar for the month of May with simple ways to teach children resilience. This can be used by all ages.

Providing Support

  • Children’s Mental Health matters provides simple coping skills cards for younger children to choose which activity they would like to complete to feel better. Great for kids K-3.
  • Centervention has a variety of tools, primarily games, for elementary and middle school children to build social, emotional and behavioral skills.
  • Counselor Chelsey offers talking points and resources for parents on a variety of topics including anxiety. You will need to opt-in to access the free resources.
  • Helping Children Embrace Big Emotions
  • Positively Present offers a variety of free downloadable resources including the ABCs of self-care, inspirational coloring pages for kids, bookmarks and every day optimism worksheets.

Self-Care

  • Headspace is offering health care professionals access to Headspace Plus through 2020. If you are a healthcare professional, you can redeem your subscription using your National Provider Identifier (NPI) and email address. Or, if you are a nurse and you don’t have an NPI, you can provide your organization information to verify your credentials.
  • Downdog is offering all of their apps – Down Dog, Yoga for Beginners, HIIT, Barre, and 7 Minute Workout – completely free for health care professionals until January 1st, 2021, helping those who are helping us.
