2025 Camp is Gold Gala Highlights

On Saturday, November 8th, more than 530 guests gathered at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago for the Camp is Gold Gala, celebrating Camp One Step. This was our largest gala ever.

The evening opened with a lively cocktail hour and live music before guests entered the ballroom. Gala Committee Chair Kerry Leiman, alongside our Board Chair Jan Kuklenski, kicked off the program with a celebratory toast. Former camper and host Ryan Sartori followed with a warm welcome and shared his personal journey with Camp One Step.

Guests enjoyed a gourmet dinner as the program continued with meaningful moments, including our President, Jeff Infusino, presenting the Richard Schwebel Family Award to Geraldine (Nana) Fotsch.

One of the most memorable parts of the night came when camper Kaia shared her story, reflecting on her experience with cancer and the impact Camp One Step has had on her life. She spoke about flour fights, swimming, arts and crafts, and the late-night conversations “where everyone somehow understands everything you have been through and understands everything I feel the need to hide in the real world.” Her words captured the heart of camp and why it’s such a special place for so many.

The night wrapped with dancing and live music, but not before another historic milestone. For the second year in a row, and with another record-breaking achievement, the Camp is Gold Gala raised over $1.2 million. This incredible accomplishment will help bring life-changing camp experiences to even more children. Thank you to everyone who helped make this unforgettable evening possible.
