How did you get involved with Camp One Step?

During my own time in the hospital, child life specialists introduced me to Camp One Step. I knew once I was old enough I wanted to volunteer and grow within an organization dedicated to childhood cancer.

How long have you been involved with our organization?

7 Years!

What volunteer roles have you held?

Summer Camp Counselor, CONNECTED Counselor, and CONNECTED Program Coordinator.

What keeps you coming back to Camp One Step?

Seeing the smiles of the kids who I get to interact with and share normalcy with continues to bring me back to camp! The memories that are created and the importance that they hold for so many brings me back every year.

What do you love the most about the program you lead?

I love the access that CONNECTED offers to children and families all across the world. The community that has been created is the most amazing thing to witness. Despite being on a computer it truly feels like we are together at camp.

What are some words of wisdom or advice that you would give campers?

Allow yourself to embrace the fun. Be silly, open, and willing to step out of your comfort zone!

What are some words of wisdom or advice that you would give new or interested volunteers?

Take the step to volunteer and you will never look back! There are so many opportunities and roles! You will find your perfect fit!

What are some of your interests outside of camp?

Spending time with my dogs, friends and family. I also enjoy reading, playing video games, doing puzzles, and playing board games!
