How did you get involved with Camp One Step?
I have been coming to camp since it started. I was a patient of Dr. Baum, who convinced my parents that I needed to attend One Step At A Time Camp.

How long have you been involved with our organization?
I came to camp every summer until I got married and had kids of my own in 1997. Then I started coming again in 2017.

What volunteer roles have you held (includes volunteering for a Camp One Step event or TOS)?
I have been a counselor in Standard and Excel. Most recently, I have been the Program Leader for Excursion (Summer Camp). I have also been a counselor at Sib Camp, Winter Camp, Day Camp and Dude Ranch. This year I am assisting with the running of Sib Camp.

What keeps you coming back to Camp One Step?
Someone was there for me when I needed to go to camp as a child. Now I want to be there for the campers who need camp in their lives. I also LOVE seeing campers getting to be KIDS—not patients.

What do you love the most about the program you lead?
Excursion: I LOVE not only being able to experience camp at Conference Point, but also being able to experience traveling with our campers to places off of our campgrounds—places that some of our campers may never have gotten to experience before.

What are some words of wisdom or advice that you would give campers?
Push yourself to try new things, meet new friends and be a stronger, more confident YOU than you ever thought you could be.

What are some words of wisdom or advice that you would give new or interested volunteers?
Camp is a magical place where you can be a more confident, brighter YOU than you ever thought possible. When
you volunteer at camp, push yourself out of your comfort zone—sing, play, dance, laugh and connect with others bigger and better than you ever thought you could.

What is your current professional work/role?
2nd grade teacher

What are some of your interests outside of camp?
I love working out, traveling, going to as many CUBS games as possible, and spending time with family.
