Seabees Leadership Program

Who: Former campers ages 20+

The Seabees Leadership Program is a program for former campers 20 years and older who have limitations due to their disease, treatment, or other factors. Guided by facilitators, participants focus on personal growth through achievement and service to camp.

Program participants have an important role in aiding the counselors and leading the campers. They have hosted dinner parties for other camp groups, operated Casino Night, created a memorial rock garden and planned days of special fun for younger campers. And of course, they also get to enjoy participating in all-camp activities.

The Seabees Leadership Program allows former campers to stay involved with their camp, maintain friendships and give back to camp and the campers. Acting as role models and mentors to the younger campers while at camp, Seabees also continue their involvement throughout the year by volunteering at fundraising events and assisting with administration projects.

Seabees participants are sent invitations once they are age eligible and go through a special application process. Notifications to eligible applicants are sent by January. If you are interested in being a participant in the Seabees, please reach out to Hopper at jhopper@camponestep.org or Devin at dryan@camponestep.org.

We are in need of additional facilitators for this program. If you are interested in working with active adults charged with mentoring, service to camp, and personal growth, this would be a great program for you!

Applications are currently closed.  Please check back soon!

If you are interested in being a participant in the Seabees, please reach out to Hopper at jhopper@camponestep.org or Devin at dryan@camponestep.org.

Meet Your Leaders

After Donna’s sister died of ovarian cancer in 1986 her family wanted to do something in her memory and her Aunt found Camp One Step. Donna became a volunteer to keep her sister’s memory alive and make something positive out of her cancer journey. She started volunteering with Camp One Step in 1987 and has been back every year since then! Donna is currently the Program Director for the Seabees Leadership Program and has also been a counselor at Summer Camp for both the Excursion and Excel programs as well as leading games at Family Camp.
